Tirupati well known for its Sri Venkateswara temple is situated in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located 750km southwest of Vishakhapatnam. Being the most important pilgrimage centre of India, Tirupati is also known for many temples, wooden toys, waterfalls and Dravidian art.

While in Tirupati there are so many things to do to keep your trip more interesting and engaging such as paying homage to Balaji, go to Kapila Theertham and witness the amazing beauty of Tirupati. You can also stay closer to nature and visit the Sri Venkateswara National park or if you are a keen historian then Chandagiri palace and the fort is your place. Or you can visit Papavinasam Theertham to swim in the holy river of Tirupati.

1. Akasaganga Teertham-

Being of huge religious importance to the devotees Akasaganga Teertham is the most aesthetic tourist destination loved by almost all the tourists across the country. However, there is a belief among the devotees that taking a dip in the river will wash off their sins and mention most of the rituals are also performed here. But if you are planning to visit it, do not think much as this river has water all year long and thus you can visit it anytime. There is no entry fee here however a fixed time i.e. 9 am to 6 pm every day.

2. Silathoranam-

Being 2500 million years old, it is believed that Lord Venkateswara himself has incorporated himself through this. It is also famous for its other name that is Rock garden. It is known to be one of the oldest and rarest formations. Entry to this magnificent place is free and it is recommended to visit it in the daytime to make the most out of it.

3. Vedadri Narsimha Swamy Temple-

Being the most important holy place of Tirupati, Vedadri Narsimha Swami Temple is flourished from the holy river, Krishna. This temple has a great historical and religious significance as it is believed to be associated with Lord Lakshmi Narsimha Swamy. You can visit this temple anytime between 6:30 am to 8:30 pm. The entry to this is free moreover if you are interested in pooja, you have to pay a certain amount to avail the items. There are majorly 26 different poojas that take place here.

4. Sri Govindarajaswami temple-

It is one of the most ancient and biggest temple complexes in Chittoor. Tirupati being built around it gives it more importance. It is believed that this temple has been declared in 1130 AD by Ramanujacharya. This holy place consists of many sub-temples Parthasarathy temples and Kalyana Venkateswara temple is the most famous of them. It is at a distance of 1km from the railway station making it the heart of the city. It is open all year long however this temple attracts lakhs of devotees in the months of February-march and may-June.

5. Chittoor-

Well known for having Andhra Pradesh’s headquarters, Chittoor is also known for Talakona waterfalls, Gurramkonda and Kanipakam temples.

It is blessed with a mixture of nature and religious attributes. It attracts a high number of Hindu pilgrimages.
